Course Overview

 Uncertainty

Uncertainty is the underlying theme of all anxious thinking. When we understand the role uncertainty plays in our personal growth, we are better equipped to not only manage uncertainty but also use it to our advantage, enhancing the quality of our lives.

Knowledge

Uncertainty, the root of our angst, can be summarized as the “unknown”. Knowledge is therefore its antidote. But what is knowledge? We often mistake more information for knowledge. More information might create more uncertainty. Epistemology is a branch of philosophy concerned with how we know what we know and how to build a solid foundation that does not require us to absorb more information but to curate what we already know.

Fight

This course borrows from self-defence and philosophy to fight anxiety. Philosophy provides the principles of self-inquiry, while self-defence provides the principles to protect ourselves from harm and hopefully defeat our anxiety in the process. It’s essential to understand and master the 3 Ps of self-defence:
Preventive - Protective - Proactive

Confidence

Confidence is knowing that we possess the tools and skills to reconcile our internal
contradictions, to live by our values and principles, no matter the circumstances.
Self-empowerment is the sovereign governance we develop when we reclaim ownership of our
minds.
